LEBANESE TAVERNA: "MOSAIQ" eNEWSLETTER: SEPTEMBER 2006

Dear Family, Friends and Lebanese Taverna Customers,

Usually this section is dedicated to the events that Lebanese Taverna is involved in throughout our community, but with the crisis in Lebanon hitting so close to home, we wanted to share some thoughts with you.

With all that is going on in Lebanon, we are truly appreciative of the concern you have expressed and we all want to thank you for your support and encouragement. Our family in Lebanon is safe and our thoughts and prayers are with them every day. We are truly saddened by this situation and pray for a speedy resolution. Just a few weeks ago, we celebrated the 27th year of Lebanese Taverna, -- it is a reminder of where we came from and where we are now. As an immigrant family coming to the United States, we embraced the American way of life and are fortunate to live it out everyday.

Many of you have asked what you can do to help those in Lebanon who have been devastated by this crisis and cannot leave in search of a better life. Here is a link to the American Red Cross: www.redcross.org. They have been particularly active in their humanitarian efforts in Lebanon. This is only a link; we have not set-up any kind of account with the Red Cross. When you go to donate, please select International Response Fund. Lebanese Taverna will be doing a fundraising event this fall - please look for details soon.

Again, we thank you for your continued support of the years - do you believe it's been 27 years!.

Lebanese Taverna and the Abi-Najm Family

Summer has sped by, and so much has been happening with the Lebanese Taverna family.  Here is a quick snap shot of some of these events:

We are thrilled to announce that Lebanese Taverna has won the washingtonpost.com 2006 Best Bets Readers’ Choice Award for Best Vegetarian.  This is our third consecutive year winning this award and we are grateful to your loyalty.  Thank you!

David Abi-Najm got married this past year in Lebanon. This was the first time the whole family has been back since we left in 1975!!!

The baby of the family welcomes her first baby!  Grace and Kevin welcomed into the world Olivia Jo Shea, June 20th, 2006.  Looking forward to putting her to work asap!!

We’re preaparing to add the latest addition to the Lebanese Taverna family of restaurants late this fall in Baltimore, in the new Inner Harbour East.  Check out the website, http://www.harboreast.com/index.htm

Now that everyone has taken a break from that hot stove this summer, our cooking classes are back, better than ever.  To start off the fall, we are offering a classic selection of recipes –we hope to help you lay a foundation of healthy and delicious menus for your family’s enjoyment

Lebanese Taverna Cooking Classes are available at our Market in Arlington and in our café in Annapolis. Same menu, in both locations, all month; choose which class works best for you and sign up early!

Lebanese Taverna has been playing around for some time now with a recipe for wheat bread and we think we have finally gotten it perfect.  Starting in September, at all Lebanese Taverna Cafes and Restaurants, we will be serving both white and wheat bread.  Now you can have your favorite sandwich and keep your health in mind!!

Yes, we are giving away the recipe for the garlic sauce.  After receiving many requests (and some begging) we are including the recipe this month.  If you have ever gone into a meeting or had a date after eating some of our famous sauce, that officially makes you a garlic sauce junkie!! So, for your pleasure (and the dismay of your loved ones) click here to see it!

Before you know it the holidays will be here! You might need a place to hold your office party or get your friends and family to together.  Impress the boss (or your mother-in-law) by letting Lebanese Taverna take care of all your party needs.  Whether you come to us, (our Washington and Tysons Galleria restaurants have private rooms) or we come to you, we can handle it all.  Reservations have already started and our catering staff is ready to help make your holidays a carefree, custom designed culinary success.

As Fall approaches we’ve released our new wine list.
